Tribune Names Roger
Bare VP/General Manager of KHWB-TV, Houston
CHICAGO, April
19, 2004 -- Tribune Broadcasting, a division
of Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB), today announced the appointment
of broadcast sales executive Roger Bare as vice president/general
manager of KHWB-TV (WB39), Houston. Bare has been with
the station in a variety of positions for the past 11
years, and has served as general sales manager since
1998. He succeeds Tom Ehlmann, who will assume the post
of vice president/general manager at WGN-TV (WB9), Chicago,
on April 26.
"Roger is a talented executive whose
depth of knowledge and experience at KHWB will be invaluable
as he moves forward in this new role," said Patrick
Mullen, Tribune Broadcasting president. "His appointment
is a reflection of the deep pool of management talent within
our station group."
Bare was promoted to general sales manager
at KHWB in May 1998. He served as the station’s local
sales manager from 1996 to 1998; national sales manager
from 1995 to 1996; and account executive from 1992 to 1996.
"Roger’s experience positions him perfectly to
continue KHWB’s history of service to viewers and advertisers
in the Houston area," said John Reardon, Tribune Television
group vice president. "He knows the market and the
station’s personnel, and he can help take KHWB to even
greater success."
Prior to joining KHWB, Bare held several sales manager and
account executive positions at KRBE-FM and KLDE-FM, Houston;
WTQR-FM, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and WCHV-AM, Charlottesville,
Va.

A native of Charleston, W.V., Bare holds
a bachelor’s
degree in advertising from Marshall University, Huntington,
W.V. He is a member of the Houston Advertising Federation
and a board member of the Houston Society for the Prevention
of Cruelty to Animals.
