Tribune Names Thomas D. Leach Vice
President/Development

-- Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB)
today named Thomas D. Leach vice president/development, effective
Feb. 1, 2004 . Leach is currently chief financial officer
of Tribune Broadcasting, and has been with the company for
nearly 20 years.
"Tom has been an integral part of the
growth of Tribune Broadcasting," said Dennis FitzSimons,
Tribune president and chief executive officer. "Having served
in corporate development once before, Tom is familiar with
our strategies and has helped spearhead acquisitions -- that
experience will serve the company well going forward."
Leach was named vice president/administration and chief
financial officer of Tribune Broadcasting in March 2001.
He directs group staff activities including for finance,
human resources, planning and development and the television
production studios in Los Angeles for the company's television,
radio and entertainment businesses. In February 2003, his
responsibilities expanded to include Tribune Broadcasting's
news and broadcast operations, as well as its Business Systems
Development group.

consolidation and building scale in newspapers."
Leach previously served as vice president/development of
Tribune Company from 1998 to 2001. He was responsible for
strategy and development activities relating to broadcasting,
cable and entertainment, as well as developing business opportunities
that cut across and beyond Tribune's current businesses.
From 1990 to 1998, Leach served in several finance and strategy
positions for Tribune Broadcasting, overseeing partnership
investments and working on acquisitions, strategic planning
and development projects for the group.
Leach joined Tribune Company in 1986 as
a financial analyst at WGN-TV, Chicago . Prior to Tribune,
he was an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand. A native of Joliet
, Ill. , Leach holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and
business administration from Augustana College in Rock Island
