Tribune Names Steve
Carver VP/General Manager of WATL-TV, Atlanta
Mark Krieschen named
VP/General Manager at WGN-AM Radio, Chicago
CHICAGO, February 10, 2003 --
Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB)
today named veteran broadcast executive Steve Carver as vice
president/general manager of WATL-TV (WB36), in Atlanta, Georgia.
Carver is currently regional vice president for Tribune Television,
and vice president and general manager of WGN-AM Radio in
Chicago. The company also announced that Mark Krieschen, director
of sales at the radio station, will succeed Carver as vice
president and general manager. Both will assume their new
duties immediately.
"Steve is a strong leader with a successful
track record," said Patrick Mullen, Tribune Broadcasting
president. "He brings years of successful management
experience, including a strong background in sales, promotion,
and community involvement, which make him the perfect fit
for WATL-TV.
As regional vice president for Tribune Television,
Carver currently oversees the operations of WXIN-TV (WB59)
and WTTV-TV (WB4), the company’s two-station cluster
in Indianapolis, Indiana and WXMI-TV (FOX17) in Grand Rapids,
Michigan. He has served as vice president and general manager
at WGN-AM Radio since 1998. From September 1999 to December
2001, when Tribune’s radio interests included three
stations in Denver, Carver served as vice president/radio
group for Tribune Broadcasting in addition to his post at
WGN-AM.

has won five of The WB Network’s prestigious ‘Froggie’
awards for ratings and promotional excellence in broadcasting.

Born October 5, 1954, Carver holds a bachelor’s
degree in English literature from Fairleigh Dickenson University
in Madison, New Jersey. He serves as president of the Chicagoland
Chamber of Commerce Foundation, chairman of the Illinois Broadcasters
Association, and sits on the executive committee of the Radio
Broadcasters of Chicago.
Tribune Broadcasting owns and operates 24
television stations concentrated in major markets and Superstation
WGN on national cable. The acquisition of two additional stations,
KPLR-TV, St. Louis, and KWPB-TV, Portland, Ore., will be completed
in early 2003, pending regulatory approvals. The group’s
