Tribune Television Hires William Shaw
as VP/Sales
Veteran sales executive
to join company in August
CHICAGO, July 30, 2001 -- Tribune
Television President Patrick J. Mullen today announced that
William Shaw will join the company next month as Vice President/Sales.
"As Tribune Television has expanded, so
has our need for a top television sales executive to lead
our sales efforts," said Mullen. "Bill Shaw brings
the talent and experience necessary to coordinate efforts
across all of our sales operations. He'll work closely with
our station rep firms, Tribune Media Net, and our local sales
units to develop new revenue streams and maximize our opportunities
for newspaper-TV cooperation."
Shaw has been with Petry, Inc. where he served
as President and CEO of Fox Television Sales, the joint venture
with Petry and Fox which handled sales for the network's owned
and operated stations. Prior to that Shaw was President of
Petry National Television, which represented 83 television
stations coast-to-coast.
"Tribune is a high growth media company
with exciting opportunities in today's marketplace,"
said Shaw. "As the only media company with television
stations and newspaper operations in the country's top-three
markets, Tribune is at the forefront of developing innovative
cross-media, cross-market advertising solutions that fit customers'
needs."
In this newly created role, Shaw will be responsible
for developing strategic business and sales initiatives, coordinating
television group advertising deals, and for managing relationships
with key sales-related organizations including The Television
Advertising Bureau and ACNielsen.
Shaw, who will be based at Tribune's WPIX-TV
in New York, will assume the position on August 13.
