'salem' premiere spells magic for wgn america

The series debut of “Salem,” WGN America’s first original scripted series burst out of the gate, bewitching audiences on television’s highly competitive Sunday night. “Salem” captivated 2.3 million Total Viewers and 886,000 Adults 18-49, during four combined airings on the network. The premiere telecast at 10 p.m. ET, delivered 1.5 million Total Viewers and 647,000 Adults 18-49, a +635% increase over the network’s Adults 18-49 season-to-date average on Sundays at 10 p.m.

tribune publishing leadership named

​Tribune Company has named the leadership team that will guide Tribune Publishing following its pending separation from the company. Eddy Hartenstein, publisher and CEO of the Los Angeles Times, will become Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tribune Publishing once it is established as an independent company. Publishing and media veteran Jack Griffin, who has served as an advisor to Tribune over the last year, has been appointed Tribune Publishing Chief Executive Officer, effective April 14. John Bode will continue as Chief Financial Officer for the new company, reporting to Griffin.

tribune company completes acquisition of gracenote

​Tribune Company has completed its acquisition of Gracenote, the global leader in music technology and metadata, from Sony Corporation of America. The deal brings together Gracenote with Tribune Media Services, forming one of the largest sources of entertainment metadata in the world.  The addition of Gracenote also expands Tribune’s reach into new growth areas, including streaming music services, mobile devices and automotive infotainment, where Gracenote has a powerful presence.  For Gracenote, Tribune’s portfolio of television networks and stations will offer platforms to bring its smart-TV, music and advertising innovations to market.
